People refer to it as the ‘American Pastime’ or ‘the Boys of Summer’.
What few kids do not pick up a ball and bat sometime in their younger lifetime.
So many couples, families or friends can find a memory of that relaxing time of sharing while sitting in the ballpark with a hot dog, beer or soda, and maybe some cracker jacks.
True fans will know the names, games, strategies and moments from games that live on for eternity and be a source of many discussions as well as an argument or two.
True fans will know the joys of the powerhouse teams and the anguish of those teams that seem to always let them down.
Baseball in reality is a bit like life itself – one batter (individual), one pitch (day), one inning (week) at a time. Always full of hope and faith in good results while leaving behind a game (life) full of memories.

“BASEBALL DREAMS”
By Will Dursens, 2016
Bratwurst, hot dogs, popcorn and beer –
Aromas of simpler days are finally here!
Souvenirs, get ya souvenirs, shirts, pennants and hats!
Every child’s dream – hey Dad its Barry Bonds to bat!
Batters up – Carter, Puckett, Sandberg and Gwynn;
Angels, Cubbies, Dodgers, Royals and Twins;
Lefties, righties, the Eck, Abbott and Ryan Express;
Long ball, curveball, slider – whatever works out the best.
Diamonds are forever in this field of play.
Runs, outs, errors, slides – play the innings up to nine;
Every little ones dream is to catch that homer of the day.
Ask about Ripken’s baseball card, it just went up a dime,
Mementos and memories are all that really will stay,
Solid and secure each and every baseball day!
