I receive inspiring quotes on email with the purpose of encouraging others as well – here is the description to go with today’s INSPIRING QUOTE!
In today’s ‘Inspiring Quote’ we read a line from English poet/essayist/playwright Joseph Addison.
“Our real blessings often appear to us in the shape of pains, losses, and disappointments.”
In 1702 beating the French at the Battle of Blenheim by Dutch, Austrian, and British troops during the War of the Spanish Succession, Joseph Addison was asked to commemorate the occasion with a poem.
The English essayist/poet/playwright finished work was a wild success and eventually help lead Addison into a career in politics.
Addison continued to write essays and plays throughout his career and later life, even while he was moving through a variety of positions within the government.
Retiring just a year before his death in 1719, Addison’s prose lives on in lines like the one shared today, thus cementing him a position as one of the most influential writers of his time.
May we all remember and appreciate the words of Addison that still hold true to this day.
May we also remember that when you speak or write – the sharing of one’s thoughts and mind could be literally considered the clothing and description of you as a person and human being.
Words can and will go on forever!
Until next time – Stay Inspired, Stay Positive, Stay Happy, and most of all Love Thyself!!
