Julia Alvarez is a celebrated Dominican American writer who appears to have an uncanny ability to cut to the center of any human experience.

Alvarez often focuses on her identity as a Dominican woman growing up in the United States by what she writes with her prose and poetry.

Today’s quote if “The Point Is Not to Pay Back Kindness but to Pass It on” is found in her essay ‘Aha Moment’, when she describes a terrifying plane ride, and the many moments of kindness she saw in that one small space of time.

Reflecting on her experience, Alvarez found that kindness inspires more kindness, and she writes that we should pay it forward whenever we can.

One can easily follow the lead of this idea as we continually get out and experience life itself, never knowing when the inspiration to be kind and pass it forward may strike within our life.

May we all remember that we are all important, even if it is to just the small world for which your life revolves around.

May we also remember that when we speak or write – the sharing of one’s thoughts and mind could be literally considered the clothing and description of us as a person.
