INSPIRING QUOTE FOR TODAY from RALPH WALDO EMERSON!!

I am always looking for INSPIRING QUOTES with the purpose of encouraging others as well to do so.

Today the INSPIRING QUOTE comes from author Ralph Waldo Emerson where he references talent and playing.

Within the quote “It is a happy talent to know how to play”, Emerson seems to be referencing one is happier when knowing how to find the talent to have time to play when living.

Ralph Waldo Emerson was a great American essayist, preacher, poet, and philosopher who was born in 1803 and passed away at the age of 79 in 1882.

The quote we share today was included somewhat unceremoniously in one of Emerson’s journal entries from April 1935 and offers us an insight to his values.

Emerson cautioned against taking societal rules so seriously that you sacrifice silliness and fun.

Within this brief writing, Emerson was ahead of his time.

At the time, science had shown that, in fact, playfulness is a learned trait, one that benefits us physically, socially, and emotionally at any age.

As Emerson said, an excellent ability to cultivate for a happy life means to have the talent of knowing when and how to play around the seriousness of life itself.

How in your life travels have you found the time to truly just have fun?

Is it something you plan ahead for or are willing to once in awhile let it just happen, even if it means interrupting something much more serious in your life travels?

We all must sit back and consider how much time we take to just play and let go of the seriousness of life for moments at a time.

Even in science they have found that one will be happier if and when they develop and use this talent.

Nobody ever said it was wrong to play, it just needs to developed along your own timeline and travels of life.

Until next time – Stay Inspired, Stay Positive, Stay Happy, and Most of All – Stay at Peace and in Love with Thyself and the Journey You May Be On!!
